CSX Transportation Historical Society

Do you want to participate in preserving the history of CSX?

The CSX Transportation Historical Society was organized in 2011 for the purpose of collecting, disseminating and preserving the history of CSX as both a railroad and a corporation. The Society considers itself an extension of the fallen flag railroads that formed CSX. While CSX is a fully functional healthy corporation which has been in existence since 1980 and is deserving of having its history preserved for the enlightenment of further generations. The Society is a non profit organization incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and membership is open to all regardless of age, race, sex, or religious beliefs. All of the Society's officers are volunteers and receive no compensation. The Society is an IRS 501{c}3 non profit organization.


The 2013 CSXTHS Journal, vol 2 no 4, is now available for viewing.

The 2014 CSXTHS rail fanning weekend was held in Pikeville KY from June 6-8.
Tours included the CSXT Coal Run Yard; exploring Big Sandy/ Clinchfield line from Pikeville KYto Haysi VA; and exploring the CSXT line from Martin KY to Deane KY.

The 2013 CSXTHS rail fanning weekend was held in Winchester KY on June 7, 8, and 9, 2013. The rail fanning activities were based out of the Holiday Inn Express, 5250 Revilo Rd, Winchester, KY.

The 2012 CSXTHS rail fanning weekend was held in the Greater Cincinnati OH area on August 3 - 5, 2012. The rail fanning adventures were based out of the Holiday Inn, Covington KY (just across the river from Cincinnati OH).
