CSX - Maintenance of Way Are Us - 07-09-2020 - Part 2

Most of the equipment that I found on July 4th at Shelby was working on the Sandy Valley & Elkhorn Subdivision on July 9th, 2020. I found them at Robinson Creek.

24. RST 201204 appears to another tamper. Note that it is receiving maintenance at Bryan Park Roadway Shop. This is the former Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac Railroad locomotive shop in Richmond VA. Previous to that CSX did roadway equipment maintenance at the ex-B&O roundhouse in Fairmont WV. I was late for an appointment, so I had to break away and head back to town.

Now for the rest of the story; coal loadings from the two remaining prep. plants on the line are very sporadic at best. The gang quit at Penny where the spur to the Rob Fork mine splits off. In my opinion this work was a complete waste of money an a line that will never see much – if any – coal traffic again.
